Our Studio

For A Reason

Founded in 2013, Studio 17 set out to provide space for those eager to practice diverse wellness modalities and support for those excited to teach. Over the years, we evolved to focus exclusively on our expertise of Pilates.

Our specialty resides in the field of Classical Pilates. Our unique teaching style has made us one of the only Pilates studios teaching the discipline as Joseph Pilates intended it: a tailored experience for each student, provided within an organized and methodical system of exercises and performed on a wide range of apparatus. We want to work with you to determine the best approach to your Pilates practice that will wholly suit your physical, financial, and emotional needs.

Practicing Pilates

Pilates has proven to impact the body in significant ways when practiced correctly. Our instructors work with each student experiencing their own unique limitations and needs to determine the best way to serve their bodies. Students experience improvements in balance, strength, mobility, and overall better health but the benefits of practicing Pilates extend far beyond that.

Studio 17 Instructors

We are proud of our team and the community of trusted industry professionals we have cultivated. Studio 17 instructors are extensively trained for various specialties within the practice of Pilates. Along with the ability to create their own schedules, Studio 17 instructors retain autonomy determining the teaching approach that best suits each students’ needs. Camaraderie and support of like-minded instructors are vital to teacher growth and success.

Frequently Asked Questions

At its core, Pilates was founded to “develop the body uniformly, correct wrong postures, restore physical vitality, invigorate the mind, and elevate the spirit”, Joseph Pilates. Benefits include greater strength, mobility and flexibility, elongated muscles, improved balance, and breath-development, enhanced mental focus and body awareness.

We recommend practicing 3-4 times weekly. By combining in-studio and at-home workouts, visible results can be achieved within a few weeks. There is a direct connection between how often you practice, your intention, and the benefits you receive. You may feel different after just one session. However, like everything else, you must commit yourself to work purposefully to see results. Joseph Pilates famously said, “In 10 sessions you’ll feel the difference. In 20 sessions you’ll see the difference. In 30 sessions you’ll have a whole new body”.

Any program or experience that gets you up and moving is the activity you should be doing. Classical Pilates is a challenging yet efficient mind, body, and spirit methodology. All Pilates exercises are corrective, full-body strengthening and stretching exercises. The goal is not to work to exhaustion or push through the pain, but rather to complete your workout feeling invigorated, and ready to take on your day.

Each type of class has a particular cost associated with it. We have worked hard to provide a diverse schedule with multiple options, including homework, for people with a wide range of financial capabilities. We are willing to work with you to determine the best plan of at-home and in-studio practice to fit within your goals and abilities. We recommend contacting us to further discuss a plan specific to you!

You may lose weight. Like every other approach to weight loss, it requires commitment and dedication. Whether or not weight loss is the goal, everyone benefits from longer and more lean muscles producing a slender appearance. This is one of the primary results of consistent Pilates practice.
